S&T programmes

The mission of France Energies Marines is to provide the scientific and technological environment necessary to remove barriers to MRE & Offshore Wind. The taking into account of the main offshore renewable energies development issues and their implementation around the objectives of national stakeholders has led to the definition of transversal research programs covering upstream research to pre-competitive research.

The scientific and technical roadmap of France Energies Marines is thus divided into four complementary research programs.

Tools and methods for site characterization

The objective is to have measurement, characterization and simulation methods to provide an accurate description of the physical environment (wind, wave, current, temperature) and the seabed of sites suitable for the installation of MRE farms.

Technology conception tools for marine renewable energies applications

The objective is to have methods of characterization and simulation to optimize the design, operation and maintenance of structures and their components through better control behaviors in the marine environment.

Environmental and socio-economic impacts

This program pursues two objectives: identify the real ecological and socio-economic challenges posed by the installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling phases of MRE projects; develop tools and methodologies to measure, qualify, analyze and predict the environmental and socio-economic impacts of identified MRE technologies.

Array architecture and network integration

This program aims to develop tools and methodologies that optimize the deployment of MRE farms and their integration into the electricity grid from a technical-economic point of view.
